WHEN WILL THE NEXT LET'S CEE FILM FESTIVAL TAKE PLACE?

The sixth LET’S CEE Film Festival will take place in spring 2018, from 13 to 22 April, in Vienna, Austria. The films will be presented at at the Actor’s Studio, at the Artis International, at the Urania Cinema and at the Village Cinema Wien Mitte. The retrospective will be shown in the Breitenseer Lichtspiele, one of the oldest cinemas worldwide. Selected productions will be presented at the Geidorf Kunstkino in Graz and at the Stadtkino Villach. Additionally, there will also be other locations where the Industry Days, master classes, get-togethers and parties will take place. In addition, some films will be presented in other Austrian cities as well.

HOW WILL THE FESTIVAL BE SCHEDULED?

With a duration of 10 days, the LET‘S CEE will last longer than last year. The Opening Ceremony with the screening of the Opening Film is scheduled for Friday, the 13th of April. The Award Ceremony will take place on Friday in the following week, and finally, the winning films will be shown again on Sunday, 22nd of April. The Industry Days are scheduled on Friday and Saturday in the second week.

WHICH COUNTRIES WILL THE FILMS COME FROM?

As in the past, productions from the following countries can be admitted into the programme: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine. For the second time in a row, the LET’S CEE Film Festival will also show selected Austrian films, addressed mainly to visitors from abroad. An absolute novelty will be the focus “Hollywood goes CEE”, presenting selected US films produced in the film studios of Central and Eastern Europe.

HOW MANY FILMS WILL BE PRESENTED?

There will be at least 10 productions in each of the four official competitions: feature films, documentaries, short films and promising debuts. Another more than 100 films will be shown out of competition, for example in retrospectives and tributes, in the School Cinema section as well as in geographical and thematic focus areas. Altogether, up to 150 films will be presented in around 200 screenings. As usual, numerous film screenings will be free of charge for visitors.

WHAT ABOUT THE FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME?

The framework programme will contain several different events – far more than 100 Q&As with the respective directors, scriptwriters, producers, actors and other filmmakers, several get-togethers, various freely accessible lectures as well as fee-based master classes, innovative industry events and an attractive daily party line-up. The second edition of the international Talent Academy will again allow up to 30 young filmmakers from Austria and the CEE region to learn, to network und thus advance their skills, their projects and their careers.

WHEN WILL BE THE COMPLETE PROGRAMME ANNOUNCED?

The complete programme of the LET'S CEE Film Festival will be announced in March 2018; the pre-sale will start on the same date.
