Synopsis

Viper is yet again jobless. And he is almost forty. Also his love life hasn’t been anything other than uneventful, except for a regular passionate consuming of strong drinks. A promising business idea and a potential relationship with an attractive waitress were about to give Viper hope for a bright future, if it weren’t for his brother named Cobra. A drug addict and a small-time crook, the latter constantly has to be rescued by Viper and extracted from the tightening grip of decay, however not at all successfully. What is worse, it seems to be working the other way round. Cobra decides to teach Viper a lesson once and for all, one that is bound to have dramatic consequences… The tragicomedy by the Czech movie director and scriptwriter Jan Prušinovský captures and impresses with a sardonic, dark and bitter humour, altogether avoiding giving simple solutions to complex problems. Set in a small town not far from Prague, this multilayered and in-depth story is the telling of two losers, played by brothers in real life. Krystof Hádek, who personifies Cobra on the screen, was awarded a prize for the best actor in a leading role at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival 2015. A mordantly chaotic comedy about the thin line between unconditional love and loathing.“ (Variety)“A cinematic slice of real life” (Cineuropa)
