Synopsis

In a dying Serbian town, an old monument dating back to the Communist era is pulled down. Marko, a hairdresser and daydreamer, who is about to be divorced from Ljubinka, comes up with a mind-blowing idea to win back the love of his life, who is severely disappointed in him, and at the same time ensure the future of his hometown: in place of the Communist monument, he wants to raise a statue of Michael Jackson and convinces his friends to help him. However, the town's mayor has his own plans and responds with a gang of racist thugs bent on shattering Marko's dream. Desperate, the latter produces a forged letter, in which the great Michael Jackson himself announces his intention to come to the inauguration of the monument. With this trick, Marko succeeds in winning over the mayor and everybody else. The town seems to come to life again; all of a sudden, its inhabitants look into the future optimistically again, and the hairdresser even manages to win back Ljubinka's heart. However, on the day of the great inauguration, disaster strikes: the town is hit by the news of Michael Jackson's death. A black comedy that is both heart-warming and bitter-sweet, and some kind of bizarre Balkan Western movie all at once. Great entertainment of superior quality for a broad public.
