Synopsis

The screening of the Soviet silent film Latif - Face to Face will be accompanied with music by Salman Gambarov (at the piano), Fakhraddin Dadashov (kamancha) and Eldar Gafarov (percussion). Gambarov is one of the best known and most versatile Jazz musicians of Azerbaijan and a renowned artist. With his project called Bacoustic Jazz, the 55-year-old has been touring half of Europe and the United States. His compositions are consistently filled with clear influences from his native country’s musical tradition. The topic of this 50-minute feature film from 1930, directed by Mikail Mikailov is the machine as a symbol of industrialisation, which is characteristic of that era. The project is an Austrian premiere and a musical event in a class of its own.
