Your trailer in the cinema!

The LET’S CEE Film Festival warmly welcomes all creative filmmakers, video artists and computer freaks to participate in our competition of the creation of this year’s official festival trailer. We invite experienced „old hands“ of the field, enthusiastic and promising young talents, carefree jokers as well as supremely gifted nerds to join us.

Without limitations, everybody who wants to submit to the competition is allowed to do so. You should still read through the lines below though since these are the terms and conditions you will agree to with your participation. Please note: Everybody can submit and win (e.g. the prize money of Euro 1.500), not only filmmakers from CEE countries.

We, for one, do hope: LET´S CEE you and your trailer soon!

The following conditions have to be taken into consideration when producing the trailer:

The trailer is supposed also to inform (!) and animate the audience to visit the LET’S CEE Film Festival. Therefore, we have to establish a few content requirements (see below). Apart from that, and if your content does not violate our festival’s philosophy, infringe any rights of third parties or transgress standards of public decency (for more details see Our Mission Statement & Canon of Values), artistic freedom is more than appreciated. You can let your ideas flow freely; there is no limit to your imagination. Animations, visual effects, played scenes – everything is possible. Innovation is required in the same manner as good entertainment, a biting humour, an unbearable suspense as well as a great deal of surprise effects.

Every trailer has to include the following:

 our new logo (available here),
one of our three current claims (“Look East for Great Films”, “Großes Kino aus Zentral- und Osteuropa“ or "CEENEMA AT ITS BEST"), and
information about the festival’s date and place (“1.–11. Oktober 2015 in Wien“, “October 1-11, 2015 in Vienna“).

The trailer can include all languages, but has to have German or English subtitles unless the language spoken is German or the words spoken are not relevant for understanding.

Furthermore, the trailer cannot consist of less than 20 or more than 40 seconds and has to be submitted digitally in cinematic quality (see the Technical Requirements) to the address contest@letsceefilmfestival.com via WeTransfer, Dropbox or similar, together with the completed and signed Application Form.

We will then complete the winning film by adding our expression of thanks to the sponsors, notably our Cinema partner Cineplexx and our TV partner Okto, whose logos will be seen for about ten seconds, and the short request to switch off all mobile phones before the main movie.

What you can win:

To say it straight away: you can win a lot of attention in the form of viewers, since the winning trailer is expected to be screened:

from August 1, in numerous Cineplexx cinemas in Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia,
before every movie screening during the festival week (in the presence of a number of well-known filmmakers from Austria and abroad),
 on our homepage,
 on our Youtube channel,
on our Facebook page, and last but not least
on TV, notably on the Austrian TV channel Okto!

So, whoever participates and wins, can rightfully claim that their cinematic work did not only run on TV but in standard cinema settings as well – and in front of a really large audience. ;-)

On top of everything, the winner will receive the generous amount of 1500 Euros as prize money, provided by our media partner, Austrian leading Community TV channel Okto. Thanks a lot to our great media partner!

The competitors in second to fifth place will receive a festival pass allowing each to see practically every movie during the festival week, depending on the number of seats available, and each to take part in one event of the frame programme. Travel costs as well as costs for accommodation and food cannot be borne by us.

The top 10 trailers will be additionally shown in the cinemas before the two blocks of the short film competition on two days of the festival week and on Okto TV too!

Last but not least, each and every participant of the trailer competition will be mentioned by name on our homepage (in no specific order).

Participants agree further to the following conditions:

The winning film is going to be chosen by the members of festival jury. The jury can explain their decisions but is not obliged to. The entrants are not entitled to a performance at the festival.

By submitting the entrants give LET’S CEE the non-exclusive rights to broadcast their trailer on TV without temporal or objective limitations, as well as to use it in public screenings and on the Internet. We are furthermore entitled to use excerpts of the trailer as frequently as we like, objectively and temporally limitless for TV and online, especially for information and promotion purposes. This grant of rights to the LET’S CEE Film Festival is free of charge.

By submitting the entrants guarantee their authorisation to dispose of all of the hereby-granted rights (especially the rights in any filmed material and music) – whether it is their own production or they obtained the licences – and they guarantee the permission, granted by all people displayed in the film, to contractual use and exploitation.

The entrants agree further to provide evidence of these rights on demand. In exercising the rights conveyed to it by this agreement, the LET’S CEE Film Festival will be indemnified and held harmless with respect to any and all claims or demands lodged by any and all third parties.

Only people of full age are eligible to take part in the competition. Minors need their parents’ or legal guardian’s permission to submit. In this case, please attach a signed and scanned corresponding declaration of consent to the submission.

All submissions need to include the entrant’s first and last name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, date of birth, profession, as well as the trailer’s title, producing country and the year of production. A few lines about the trailer are highly appreciated but not required. By submitting the entrants declare their acceptance of the terms and conditions of participation.

Deadline for the submission of films is 12 July 2015. Delayed participations and uploads after this date cannot be taken into account.

We wish you plenty of fun and success with your projects!
