Integration Cinema

One of the main goals of the LET’S CEE Film Festival is to make a positive contribution to intercultural dialogue on a transnational, but also on a national level. It seeks to reach Austrians and migrants from all countries. This is also shown by the cooperation with two new LET’S CEE partners, the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) and the Initiative Zusammen:Österreich. In cooperation with these two organisations, the LET’S CEE Film Festival will present the so-called INTEGRATION CINEMA for the first time this year. It is directed at young people of all nations as well as interested school classes which, thanks to the support from the Austrian Integration Fund, can access the Integration Cinema free of charge.

What is it about? Schoolchildren from sixteen years upward are presented five educationally valuable short films on currently relevant topics from politics and social life (ADAGIO, THE CHICKEN, THE EXECUTION, INVISIBLE SPACES and HOSANNA). After the screenings, they will have the opportunity to discuss the films with the filmmakers and the Zusammen:Österreich integration ambassadors. The former are selected role models who stand for successful integration by performance, people with migrant backgrounds who have achieved much in Austria. These will include police cadets Mirneta and Mirnesa Bećirović, originally from Bosnia-Herzegovina, who both became Jiu-Jitsu world champions for Austria. Franz Jseph Young will be another ambassador - he is currently studying Opera Singing and works as a model.
