Synopsis

In his feature film, Romanian director Emanuel Pârvu depicts the situation of lumberjack, Doru, whose wife recently passed away. Over the past eight years, they together took care of little orphan girl, Meda – but now that he is alone, Doru seems to have no choice, but to put the child back in the orphanage. He desperately looks for a way to spare the girl this fate. But for that he needs money, which is hard to come by in his rural area. The more urgent the situation gets, the more this simple, righteous man considers doing things that have never before crossed his mind. For the Director, the relationship between parents and children – a universal, highly emotional topic – gets even more intense once it concerns adopted children. Perhaps, parental love is even stronger in this case, considering the efforts made to get a child in the first place. For his gripping film, Emanuel Pârvu was honoured as Best Director at the International Film Festival in Sarajevo. Lead actor Șerban Pavlu received the Best Actor Award.
