Synopsis

Failed choir singer Marian is a rather quiet person. The impulsive Petro, on the other hand, tries to cheat his way through life as a thief. The men actually have only two things in common: the pursuit of happiness and a shortage of cash. Marian needs money for the wedding with his fiancée. Petro dreams of buying a crane. After a brutal fight and a night spent in prison, they decide to become business partners. Among other things, Petro is supposed to help Marian purchase a wagon filled with horseshoes from Caucasian gangsters. Together, the two fellows begin their search for the big money and a prosperous future. Marian’s bag being stolen soon thereafter is only the beginning of a series of incidents occurring during their adventurous journey through Moldavia. Faithful companions on this absurd road trip are a red moped and a great deal of vodka. The moral of the story: Even if things don’t turn out as planned, one should never lose one’s sense of humour. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Igor Cobileanski’s film attracts viewers by combining black comedy and drama in a refreshing way. In addition, it provides a cynical look at the self-image of the Moldavian society.
