Synopsis

Bahar and Cüneyt are a blissfully happy Turkish couple. As members of the upper middle class, they seem to have everything they want – except a child. Since their dream of a natural pregnancy fails to come to fruition, they decide to adopt a baby. But the procedure is time consuming for two reasons. They are confronted with bureaucratic hurdles and they wish the child to be fully identical to its prospective parents. In a word, no one should find out that the supposedly newborn baby is not their biological offspring. When they eventually find one baby who meets the desired criteria, entire photo albums are filled with pictures of a pregnancy that never happened. To dispel any doubt, even a photo shooting is arranged at a birth station.  Finally, history teacher Cüneyt and his wife end up moving to a remote city so that no one can unveil the truth. Yet anxiety peaks as they stumble upon a compromising police record linked to the adoption. The record could bring facts to light, thus exposing their con. A hilarious comedy tinged with social criticism. Among Turkey’s latest productions, Album stands out as one of its best films.
