- In Retrospect
Elżbieta Towarnicka is one of the most popular Polish soprano singers. Recordings for films by Krzysztof Kieslowski, such as Three Colours: Blue, White, Red and The Double Life of Véronique, brought her broader international fame. Recently, her voice could be heard in Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life, La Grande Bellezza by Paolo Sorrentino and in Papusza (with the latter being screened during this year’s edition of LET’S CEE). Many of the songs, that Towarnicka is performing, were composed by her fellow countryman Zbigniew Preisner. By the way, Towarnicka will be accompanied by the Brunnenchor for the Song for the Unification of Europe!
The programme of the concert as part of the LET’S CEE Film Festival 2014 will include the following tracks from these films: Bolero - Three Colours: Red; Kicý bidy i bokhá! – Papusza; Concerto en mi mineur [SBI 152] de 1798 – The Double Life of Véronique; Les marionnettes – The Double Life of Véronique; Do not take another man`s wife – Three Colours: Red; Tango – Three Colours: White; Requiem for my friend – The Tree of Life and La grande bellezza.
