On the occasion of the 75th birthday and 20th death anniversary of the great Polish film director Krzysztof Kieślowski (1941-1996), the Polish Institute in Vienna and the Film Museum in Łódź open thee doors to their exhibition „Krzysztof Kieślowski – Traces and Memory“ and invite interested people to a talk with Stanisław Zawiśliński, the famous filmmaker’s biographer. Only days before his death, Krzysztof Kieślowski once said that he would never reveal the secret of how much of himself really is hiding in his works. The exhibition „Krzysztof Kieślowski – Traces and Memory“, built upon numerous photos, press cuttings, posters, reviews and publications, gives cineastes insight into the private and professional life of the director. The material in display was gathered by Maria Kieślowska, Marta Kieślowska, Zbigniew Preisner, Krzysztof Piesiewicz, Irena Strzałkowska, the European Film Academy, the National Polish Film Archive, by Film Polski Agencja Promocji and both the Film School and Film Museum in Łodź.

Thu., 29th September 6:30pm Opening of the exhibition Krzysztof Kieślowski. Spuren und Erinnerung, followed by the discussion with the book author and scriptwriter Stanislaw Zawiśliński. Registration required: 01/533 89 61.

Fri., 30th September – Fri., 14th October between 10am and 4pm The exhibition is open every day except of Saturday and Sunday and can be visited free of charge in the Polish Institute Vienna.
