Synopsis

One day, famous writer and poet Maya Dardel declares on the radio that she wants to end her life. She offers young male authors an inheritance, including her house, belongings and literary legacy, and in return she asks that they ensure her inheritance’s preservation and protect her posthumous reputation. Subsequently, several young men take her up on her offer to go on a journey and visit Maya at her country estate in the mountains near California’s Santa Cruz. There, they engage in an intellectually, psychologically and physically challenging game with the exceptional woman. With time, the young men realise that Maya’s intentions and purposes are not as transparent as they appeared. American director Zachary Cotler and Polish filmmaker Magdalena Zyzak are both real life authors, whose subtle script carefully and thoughtfully carves out the particularly sensual scenes between Maya and the individual men. By casting Hollywood actresses Lena Olin as the main protagonist Maya and Rosanna Arquette in a supporting role, the directors have achieved a true casting coup.
