Gespräch: Sally Perel und Peter Huemer

Synopsis

2015, and the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, will be marked with the screening of an anti-war film that recalls that end. Agnieszka Holland’s masterpiece Europa, Europa will be presented again, 25 years after its world premiere. The movie is based on the moving survival story Ich war Hitlerjunge Salomon (I Was Hitler Youth Salomon) by Sally Perel, who will be on hand to answer questions as part of the LET'S CEE School Cinema. Additionally, on 6th October at 7.30 pm, Mr Perel will speak about his life, with the publicist and historian Peter Huemer, in conjunction with Aktionsradius Wien(Gaußplatz 11, 1200 Vienna). Admission to this discussion is free. The series is complemented by two further films:

Come And See, shot in the Soviet Union in 1987, and according to many critics the best war film ever made. Thenthere’s 1944, a thrilling drama, which has been nominated by Estonia for an ‘Oscar’ Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category
