Synopsis

The role model for the eponymous protagonist is the world-famous but controversial Czech photographer Jan Saudek. This captivating biopic, which is loosely inspired by the ups and downs in the turbulent life of this exceptional artist and played excellently, moves between high comedy and exciting drama. It shows Saudek in all his shimmering colourfulness , his passion, his talent , his creativity and his belief in the absurdity of human existence, as well as his vulgar humor , his effusive lifesytle , his arrogance and his obsessions .And of course, it´s also about the women, who have not always been treated well by him, but are still to this day the centre of his universe, either as- often obese-models in front of his lens, or as wives , daughters , intellectual admirers and sexual playmates in his private life. Liba ,the female protagonist , represents many of them .The widely ( self ) ironic movie ( Saudek as the co-writer)  also provides flashbacks to earlier , often hard times . The now 80 -year-old was then harassed and persecuted by the Nazis as a child and as an artist by the Communists . Not to be missed !
