Art, Propaganda and Ideology

Master Class with Ivan Novak & Mina Špiler

Ivan Novak presents various aspects of the ever-present relationship and the mutual dependency of art, propaganda and ideology using the example of last year’s Laibach concert in North Korea. Among many others, songs from the film The Sound of Music, which plenty of people in this isolated dictatorship were familiar with, were played at this gig. The internationally much-noticed and fiercely disputed trip to Pyongyang of probably the world’s most provocative band is also the subject of the documentary Liberation Day, which will be played in conjunction with this Master Class.

Time and place: 22 March, 11.00 a.m., Village Cinema Wien Mitte, Landstraßer Hauptstraße 2A, 1030 Vienna.
Screening:
Liberation Day, 21 March, 9.00 p.m., Urania Kino, Uraniastraße 1, 1010 Vienna.
